what does that mean

  • The Salvation Prayer is the most powerful prayer you’ll pray in your lifetime.

Jesus, I ask you to come into my life. Please forgive me for all my mistakes. Please take my past and exchange it for Your amazing future. I believe that You died on the cross for me and that You rose again because You love me. I am making a decision to put you first in my life, and I ask You to change me from the inside out. From this day forward, I give you full control. Amen.

  • Living for myself and not following God. Missing the mark for what He has for me and doing exactly the opposite of what God wants from me.

  • No longer doing life alone. You don’t have to earn or pay a price for the free Gift of Salvation. The price has already been paid when God sent His only son, Jesus to earth, He died on the cross so you have no more shame and now have a restored relationship with God. He loves you so much.

  • John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 10:9 “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  • There's a good possibility that you've heard the word “religion” at some point in your life. Christianity isn't about 'doing', or ‘earning’ God's love; it's about understanding that His love is freely given. It's all about the relationship between you and God.

How do you live this out?

Once you say yes to Jesus, your relationship with God becomes like a marriage - a lifetime relationship where you and Jesus walk together and grow deeper in relationship with one another.

  • You may have heard the terms “God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.” These terms can easily be confusing when we don't understand the different layers of who God is.

So, are the terms interchangeable? Yes. A simple illustration we can use is an egg.

There are three parts: the shell, the white, and the yolk. It’s still one egg, and we still call it an egg.

In the same way, this helps us understand the three persons of God’s nature. God sent His Son, Jesus, to the world to die for us. The Bible says that Jesus returned to Heaven after He was raised from the dead on the third day after dying on the cross. God then said He would leave the Holy Spirit here on earth as our Comforter, Healer, Helper and so much more. All three are still God, working together as three in one.

  • At church you experience things that you can’t always tangibly put into words, and that is called the presence of God. It’s different to a live concert or sitting by yourself. When we, as the church - God’s people - gather together, the Bible says that God is there.

Singing - Praise is the loud, joyful songs sung from a place of victory. Worship is the opportunity to acknowledge God for who He is and that He is King over all. During worship, people may lift their hands to God as a sign of surrender to Him.

Prayer - We gather to pray before church, and during the service someone may pray over the needs of individuals and the church, as well as share good news stories.

Preach - In the middle of the service, someone will get up and do what's called a preach or sermon. They open the Bible and share scripture on a topic that we are learning about. You’ll learn many different things to empower you not only for your Sunday experience, but also for your workplace, family, university and everyday life in general.

  • Communicating with and hearing from God is possible at any point in our day. We do this through prayer, which is simply talking to God.

When you choose to start talking to God, you will find that it becomes more natural over time. In those moments of prayer, pause after you finish praying and just listen, because you will sense that God wants to speak to you. And He does, because God Himself desires to have two-way communication with you. That’s what prayer and relationship are all about.

  • One of the most important ways God speaks to us is through what we call the Bible. Therefore, it makes sense to read the Bible every single day, as it provides clear direction on how to live a Christian life.

One of the ways you can get started reading the Bible right now is by downloading the free YouVersion Bible app from YouVersion. A great place to start in the Bible is the book of John. John was one of Jesus’ disciples and gives an eyewitness account of the time when Jesus was on the earth. He talks about how much Jesus loves you and the amazing plan He has for your life.
